My journey began back in December 2016, so I spent the best part of 18 months preparing for the race.
Ever since I found out about the Great Pacific Race I’ve wanted to do it. It must have been around April 2014 that I first heard about it and contacted Boatylicious about a space in their boat.
Life goes on but the desire to complete the crossing never left me… so, after years of thinking about it, it was crunch time; either get on and blinking well do it, or regret not trying.
It wasn’t a decision I made lightly and I spent a couple of weeks over Christmas reading up about ocean rows and training solidly, all in secret, to make sure I could commit.
January 2017 came and I decided to make it happen. I phoned Chris (the Race Director), paid my deposit, and voila. That was it, I was signed up. Time to let some people know…
